Next Food Network Stars: They’re Back
Posted on February 15th 2009 by Jillian Madison

No, that wasn’t a bloated Whoopi Goldberg standing next to Sandra Lee on today’s episode of Semi-Homemade. It was Reggie Sutherland, the hyperactive, morbidly obese drama queen from the Next Food Network Star 2. The episode was awkward and difficult to watch, in part because their banter was forced and fake, and in part because his breasts are bigger than her head.

Later, Kelsey Nixon showed up on Big Daddy’s House. Even though she was her annoying giggly self, she was more entertaining and engaging than Aaron. And ultimately, he seemed like the guest on HER show, which is never a good thing.

Reggie Sutherland is just disgusting. I would never want to watch him cook. On the Sandra Lee episode, his humongous stomach kept drooping onto the stove and I was expecting it to catch on fire.

  2. Chase says:

LMAO. His nose. I just laughed out loud. How random.

  3. Mike in Detroit says:

I wonder if Kelsey and Aaron got hammered one night during TNFNS and Aaron talked her into her first sampling of a black man ? Hmmmm…

Even though she appears to have been sheltered all her years in Utah, she most likely had heard allthe usual things about black men.Once you go black …

  4. Gina says:

Wow, kinda mean, don’t you think? It’s one thing to write jokes about how people behave but when you start ripping on how people look, it loses its humor for me. You’re usually pretty funny.

  5. Pluff Mudder says:

Reggie may not win any beauty contest, but at least he can cook, unlike Aunt Sandy. He had my vote in season 2.

  6. Bill Bianchi says:

Gina, really, get a grip. Reggie is 500 pounds and is not easy to watch on a cooking show. I did not think this post was mean at all, I think it stated the obvious. He’s obese. You’re acting like someone wrote, “A FAT SLOB SHOWED UP AND DRIPPED SWEAT ALL OVER THE PLACE.”

Reggie, aside from being fat, is annoying. FNH keep doin what youre doin, don’t pay attention to the haters, because this is funny!

  7. Alex says:

I didn’t think this was mean… it was really sort of benign. Obviously he’s not attractive, but I’ve never seen him cook anything that inspired me to get up and get cooking, either.

Gina you need to develop a tougher skin! People in the media are judged by their appearance, all the time. We don’t live in a utopia!!

  8. pete says:

being fat is the least of reggie’s problems. he lost NFNS2 because he is an over the top drama queen and many people including me, find him unbearable to watch.

this post was not as hysterical as the rest of the stuff on here but not everything can hit it out of the park now can it

  9. Lin says:

Mean or not, this post was honest and the picture of Aaron’s nose made me LMAO. Thank you for not kissing everyone’s butt, like all the other sites on the net seem to do.

  10. David says:

Reggie disgusts me. Even Sandra Lee couldn’t stand being in the same room as him, she was huffing and puffing and getting short with him. Until the vodka came anyway.

I don’t understand people who say Reggie can cook. I have never seen him make one thing I wanted to eat and he drove me crazy on Next Food Network Star to the point I could not even watch the show.

On a meanness scale of 1 to 10 this post was a 3.

  11. Cuisineboy1975 says:

Oh Reggie; why the mini-dreads?? It’s so not you!

And to think he lost to Troll on TNFNS.

  12. Cuisineboy1975 says:

That close-up of Aaron’s schnoz could scare the sh*t out of anyone.

  13. Automne says:

It’s not so much the schnoz as it is the close-up of him chomping on whatever it is he’s got clamped between his teeth. I hate those gratuitous shots of people eating. It’s gross.

  14. Bee says:

It’s more disturbing that Reggie looks like a woman. Someone needs to get that man some testosterone

  15. Ubiquitous says:

  16. DMaurice says:

This post was mean. I am a fan of critique, but you mentioned nothing about what he cooked. This is the Food Network, by the way, sir, had you not noticed. Yes, he is over weight, obese, we see that–but he does not have nearly foot long breasts and because he is a big guy does not mean he is eating whole pots of food. As someone who recently lost 150 pounds, I know the struggles of being an obese man in America, however, these comments are rude, disrespectful, and cowardly written behind the comfort of your computer. Yet, it is good to see how people think of Obese, fat, over-weight people in this country. Also who said he wasn’t attractive? May not be your cup of tea, but I am sure someone likes him. I venture to see how any of you look–but even if you are physically appealing the comments some of you are displaying and your thoughts make you ugly on the inside. So this is no more than UGLY PEOPLE, trying to bring down someone by calling them names. I have printed out this post and will be using it in a presentation I will be doing this August. To the moderator of this page, let’s not confuse humor with disrespectful commentary.

  17. davis murray says:

Your comments about Mr. Sutherland are some of the most tragically homophobic comments I have read in a long time.

    • Ferd says:

I re-read all the comments and there wasn’t one that reflected any FEAR of Mr. Sutherland’s sexual proclivities (assuming he really is a homosexual, I neither know nor care). I don’t know to whom you were directing your accusation, Mr. Murray, but you are incorrect. No one was homophobic, tragically or otherwise.

  18. Ed says:

I have learned in my years on this earth that when people are cruel or constantly put people down, it is because they really hate themselves internally and are looking for acceptance. Usually not getting enough attention, from mommy or daddy, they persist on putting other people down. Take up a hobby and stop criticizing others…

  19. Truely says:

My, My, My! Only in America. It’s great to be able to say what you want; when you want. Words have such a reflection of what the heart holds. I think it takes all kinds of people to make a world. What a blessing God made us unique and wonderful.Go Reggie Go Sandra! Go Kelsey! Go Aaron!
