OPEN THREAD: What Do You Want To See On FNH?
![]() |
Can you believe it – Food Network Humor is already two months old! Time sure flies when you’re making fun of Rachael Ray.
Thanks to everyone who has helped spread the word about the site. It’s been a great ride thus far. Now, we want to expand and improve. We ultimately want to become the premiere internet source for Food Network Satire and Food Humor, and to develop a thriving community for you guys. But to do that, we need to hear from YOU.
So let’s hear it. What do you want to see more of? Less of? What’s working? What’s not? Do you want more photos? Or more original humor? More text articles? Or more videos? What do you like? Or hate? Would you like the articles to be more personal? Less personal? Be as brutal as you like. We’re eager to hear your thoughts and are open to suggestions.
Thanks for reading!

Happy Anniversay FNH!! Well done and very funny- I say keep it going – I love ripping these over payed, over sexed, drunkin morons new a-holes!!!
The Tyler Florence Alright Index, which tracks the number of times he says “all right?” or “right?” in a given episode.
Gee Johnny, when you say it like that, I’m kinda wishing I was an overpaid, oversexed drunken moron. That actually sounds like a good time.
Sam, sounds like the beginnings of a great drinking game!
FNH, I dig the humor, satire, parodies, all of that. These FN folks have bucket loads of quirks – and they’re all fair game. I get way turned off when the humor ain’t so funny any more, it all kinda goes in the shitter and comments turn into hate comments.
If I wanna read about hate, I’ll turn on CNN. I come here for laughs. I figure, anyone coming here to read this stuff has had to have watched (and enjoyed watching) SOME of the programming on FN. If they hadn’t, they wouldn’t get the jokes. So for my vote, keep it funny. Poke away at the quirks. Keep the personal attacks down to a minimum.
I agree – I love to come here and laugh – I do notice Rachael Ray is the biggest brunt of your humor — Maybe spread the snarks around a bit more! The gal works hard and does deserve some breaks- That is all I would like to see change a bit- otherwise AWESOME JOB!
I discovered you guys yesterday and spent my day reading every article here on the subway while chucking to myself. I love it, love it, love it.
Might you feature a Food TV Canada roast sometime? While our network airs a lot of what you see (but no Sandra Lee!) we do have some homegrown content I think you’d love. I think you’d have a really good go at frying Laura Calder’s go at, French Food at Home.
The only thing I would like is, if you would (as Jessie said) spread the snark around. There are other “supposed cooks” on the FN besides Guy Fieri, Duff Goldman, Rachael Ray, and Sandra Lee, that deserve skewering. I love your site. I visit it several times a day to see what is new. I have been known to just burst out laughing at some of the stuff you all post. All I can say is…Snark On. Watch out Bobby Flay, Tyler Florence and my beloved Alton Brown, you too can be a target on The Food Network Humor Site. No one is too big a star to avoid the mighty FNH staff.
How about a rip on Mark Dacascos? The “chairman” of ICA. Isn’t time to delve into all the B movies he’s starred in, not to mention the uncle BS considering this fool was born in freakin Hawaii.
I come here looking for the belly laughs I seem to find regularly. I like snarky without being really cruel and nasty. Like others, I would love to see it spread around a little more. There aren’t too many FN personalities that you can’t find something to snark about. Ted Allen, Bobby Flay, the Deen Bros., etc. come to mind. For starters.
Ah niceness-smicenesh, make it funny like you have been. NO PITY!
My suggestion would be to find other idyosyncracies in the personalities of the cooks to take shots at. There’s only so many ways to call Aaron dumb, Sandra Lee a drunken hack, Giada an over-enunciating clown, etc. I think you have spread the humpr around to pretty much everyone. Now I guess it’s time to dig a little deeper into what makes them mockable.
Dingle – only if you have a death wish. I watched his meatloaf episode today and counted 127 alrights.
I also watched semi-homade and listened to Shamdra pronounce espresso “express-o” (8 times), as well as “delicious” (15 times), “nice” (10 times) and “wonderful” (8 times), rendering those words all but meaningless.
I seriously need to get over this flu thing and get back to work, because this much Food Network isn’t healthy for anyone.
I love Ina Garten and I would love to see more funny bits about her show! Everything that is on the site about it is funny, but I would like to see more Barefoot!
Sam, too funny! Maybe the rules to the drinking game would be, if you don’t say “All Right!” each time Ty does, then you have to drink. And each time he says “perfect,” everyone has to drink. eh?
How about something funny, that would be unique.
Love your site – the only thing I want you to change is to have more articles! Thanks!
haha, I like those rules. Nice work!
Boy what a refreshing web site…Love it….
I agree with the comment about needing more comments and stories about other “characters” on FN less RR, Sandra Dee and Guy Forget HE.
NOW INA…she is a hoot…I will say, I like her show even if the soft focus, Martha thing is getting a little old.
Yes, the gay friends are always trying to be a little too Fabulous, and her chubby hubby is a bit of a nebbish, but her calming voice makes me feel like she really cares about her food.
That given… I would love to see her get buzzed and have a dinner party for/with Paula Deen and her redneck sons, maybe with a cameo visit from Sandy just to “Semi’ homo things up a bit, maybe even invite that Canadian useless guy from Iron Chef – oh, whats his name, whats his job? You know what I mean.
NOW that I would watch!!!
the bored board really loves the snark (yes, especially the rr stuff) you guys are putting out. keep it up. but i agree, spread the love to lesser-hit personalities as well. everyone needs to be snarked on, the more the merrier. but please, keep on with the rr snark. we can’t get enough.
Just my two cents; I was so stoked when I found this site because my husband and I looove FN and like to make fun of a lot of the things/people on it. However, while I do enjoy this site, I have been disappointed in some of the things I have seen. I’ll have to second what another commenter said about the unnecessary hateful remarks (although I’ll have to disagree with him likening hateful things to CNN).
Like I said before, my husband and I make fun of FN but we do so playfully because we actually enjoy a lot of the shows and chefs/cooks on it. For example: Its fun to tease about the amount of butter that Paula Deen uses in her recipes and her cute Southern drawl but constantly harassing her about her weight is below the belt.
Also, you guys seem to have clever people working on your site so maybe you could have a little less of the “cop-out” posts, like naming crayon colors after FN hosts. Maybe it’s just me but I dont think posts like that are funny at all. There is sooo much material on FN that is snark-worthy…you don’t have to come up with cheesy posts like the crayon thing.
Overall, I really like the concept of this site; it just needs a little better execution.
Thanks!
See now I disagree with the last poster. I love the posts like the silly crayon post, and the “Rachael Ray Island” post and things like that. I didn’t think it was cheesy at all. Those posts remind me of a late night talk show segment (something you’d see on Conan O’Brien) so please don’t stop doing those.
I run a blog too and I know one thing is for sure – you can’t please everyone. So don’t even try to . Just keep doing your thing because this is one hysterical website.
Also I don’t think calling Paula Deen fat is below the belt. It’s honest and realistic. She’s fat. She knows she’s fat. She talks about being fat all the time.
I think Tegan is a Lugan.
Kyle, what does that even mean? You think she is Lithuanian? In what context does that even make sense?
BTW, love the site and agree with people that there are a lot of other eccentricities that you can make fun of in the FN hosts. Not sure if you have mentioned this yet but does anybody else notice how much soft-core porn sounding music they use when the hosts are tasting their food? Giada is a huge perpetrator in this department.
What about the Neeley’s? I hate to watch their soft-porn show. I have to change the channel because the sexual innuendoes just get disgusting after only a few minutes.
I mean I love sex and food and not necessarily in that order ;-) but the constant barge of sexual overtones get old real fast.
I’m with you, Sam. I am sooooo sick of the Neeley’s sexual inuendo…and I could kick Paula Deen in the “butter” for getting them involved with FN.
I would love to see the salaries of the TV chefs.
I’d like to see that pompass Robert Irvine knocked down a peg or two. Same with Robert Symon.
I would eat nothing prepared in the Neely’s kitchen. From the way they behave in there I would hate to imagine what goes on on the counters after the show is over and the crew has left.
“I would eat nothing prepared in the Neely’s kitchen. From the way they behave in there I would hate to imagine what goes on on the counters after the show is over and the crew has left.”
LOL! I’ve thought about that, too!. Watching them play kissy-face and huggy-bear in their kitchen makes me wonder what kind of “germs” are lurking in their kitchen and cookware. Pat and Gina should get a room away from the kitchen. jmo
