Gina Neely’s Shrimp Corn Dogs (Nasty!)
Posted on March 21st 2009 by Jillian Madison

On today’s new “Dinner And A Movie” episode of Down Home With The Neelys, Gina whipped up a truly disgusting looking batch of shrimp corn dogs. They looked like deep fried pieces of dog poo on a stick. Bon appetit!

(Later in the episode, they showed the family gathered around the table eating dinner. NO ONE took more than one bite of the delicious shrimp stick.)

I have always wondered why this woman is allowed on TV. She totally disgusts me. I have no respect for her husband either. The man is whipped beyond belief. I wretch when I hear that request for “brown sugar”. Yecchhh.

    • Renee says:

For your information, Pat and Gina Neeley are good people and know how to cook. If you don’t like them, then why do you watch their show. They are a very happy couple and it shows.

      • Ginasucksass says:

Oh please…”and it shows”???? Yeah, it shows…it’s on TV dumbass!!! It HAS to “show”…they are so fake, and if you haven’t realized, all they do is cook the same dishes, and give them different names…I gave them a chance and tried to watch a few episodes…they SUCK! They have no skill but their bbq shit.

        • NoItAll122 says:

First of all they are quite happy do you know either of then…NO you don’t quit being a dumbass and get a life if you don’t like them don’t watch their shows.

Chances are your best friend is a decomposing greasy nutbrain who pukes on the four-eyed bat out of hell and the lewd fanatic.

          • Jessie says:

No offense but I worked for them a few years. All that affection is a show… He would fuck around and cheat on her all the time. I remember the big storm of 03 in Memphis, she wouldn’t even let the girl he was fucking step inside neely’s…. Pat is a cheater, but he cool people to me, but I didn’t like Gina, she was and is a CUNT!!!

      • Larry says:

Absolute worst show on food network. 95% of the show is based on them behaving like sex starved teenagers and talking about lots of nothing to do with food.

    • lisa says:

Let haters be your motivators!!! Why do you watch if you are so disgusted. You need to pray that was not nice. Why is it when we see good we hate. Its good to see a black man love his wife, or any man for that nature.

      • Coast0385 says:

No they are annoying, and thats why I don’t watch them but I have a friend that does every time im over his house. Now I am black and I am all for the positive black images on tv but they are just ANNOYING. Its a damn cooking show I could care less about your family life I am looking for a good recipe. Hell, they do that more than they cook. And I know I’m not the only one who thinks that one day they are going to just go at it on the center island in the kitchen and call it a wrap lol.

    • boss says:

you are one of those people that lives in a box

    • OraG says:

Sorry, but I don’t like this show either. There’s just a little too much “ooo baby” from her and “heh heh heh” from him. The non stop sexual double entendres are a real turn off. They may be very good people, but that doesn’t mean they should have a cooking show.

  2. Pluff Mudder says:

Where’s the shrimp police when you need them?

  3. Mikey says:

WTF??? There is so many things wrong with that… like a heart attack waiting to happen… The Neleys got on my last nerve after watching 2 episodes – I have not been back since.

  4. Kristi says:

    Truly DISGUSTING! :(
how could that have even made it on tv???

  5. Aj says:

I love the Neleys they are a fun couple to watch i dont like when they are lovey dubby but hey that is how a real couple should act. they bring new and exciting dishes to the table they took a huge step to make something as simple as a corn dog to something unique.

    Go On Neleys Family

  6. April March says:

If, as they say, you eat with your eyes first, I’d have to be blind before I’d think about eating one of those!

  7. Kyle says:

Gina Neeley gives me the heebie-geebies. Why didn’t she offer up Koolicles instead ?
I’d rather not eat food touched by the person.Period.

  8. Chris says:

Something tells me that the Neelys have a copy of the Twinkie Cookbook in their house.

  9. Chris says:

    Here’s the disgusting recipe.

    http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/patrick-and-gina-neely/ginas-shrimp-corn-dogs-recipe/index.html

Warning: it starts with the awkward line, “Add all the shrimp ingredients…”

Because shrimp is it’s own category of food now, according to the Neelys.

  10. WhaChewTalkinaBoutWillis says:

Them shrimp thingies look mighty fine and de lady also look mighty fine. I think she works at the Waffle House. Her name is Julia.

  11. Jon McKenzie says:

Seriously, trying sit through one episode of “Down Home With The Neelys” is like watching three Tyler Perry movies at the same time.

  12. roger sandlin says:

i love the neelys being from tn there cooking is what i was raised on.keep up the good work neelys

  13. J says:

Please tell me they didn’t lie and say that they serve this at their restaurant. That looks just disgusting!

  14. Melissa says:

The Neely’s food is so disgusting until they were given a spot on the food network, have a successful restaurant, & launching a series of cookbooks. LOL!

  15. MelB says:

The name alone is not appetizing.. Shrimp Corn Dogs.. YUCK-O! Goes right along with her cream collard greens. (puke).

  16. Cristine says:

    WHAT THE F*CK IS THAT?!?!?!?!?!?

  18. Candace says:

Gina Neely is one ugly bitch. I watched one episode with her nasty weave and fat little body and I was like no way am I watching this again. She thinks she’s all that but she’s more like a pig trying to win a beauty contest. No wonder she loves pigs so much, she is one. Gina, take those nasty corn dogs and shove them up your nasty ass and leave the damn show woman.

    • brittany says:

Wow there is alot of animosity for people you donot know the real deal is they are doing there thing and have become very successful at what they do there cooking style has made there show and restraunt a success to hate on people shows how un happy you are with yourself the ignorance in your comments are immature if you don’t care for them or there show don’t watch because as you do your putting more money in there pockets

  19. Yvonne says:

ALL OF YOU ARE A BUNCH OF FREAKIN HATERZZZZ. YOU ARE JEALOUS BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT ON TV MAKING MEGA BUCKS DOING SOMETHING YOU LOVE. STOP BRINGING DOWN SOMETHING POSITIVE AN AFRICAN AMERICAN IS DOING AND TRY AND FIND SOMETHING POSITIVE FOR YOU INSTEAD OF HATING.

PS I MET HER AT THE AIRPORT AND FIND HER TO BE VERY DOWN TO EARTH AND NICE SO STOP IT ALL YOU HATERZ AND GET A LIFE!

    • Bigsnood says:

I know this is you Gina. Wanna know how?….well the all caps (yelling) and piss poor attempt at English.

Now get in da kitchn an make sum dem skrimps for me.

      • havnablastwitlife says:

LOL….I love it! Yes I agree, she can be a live wire! What I don’t appreciate is how she wants all the attention. Pat is a humble person ,but she is totally in need for some humble pie!

  20. Joe says:

Ummm, have any of you people ever been to a carnival??

That batter is obviously the same batter used on corndogs. This isn’t rocket science people, that’s what batter looks like… BEFORE it’s fried.

Lol, you guys act like everything is supposed to look delicious before it’s cooked… wtf.

  21. Joe says:

    And btw, @ Candace:

WTF is wrong with you? Is something shoved up YOUR butt?? Sounds like you have some major anger problems to deal with.

OPRAH! Where’s Oprah when you need her.

  22. AnnA says:

Actually, I made those. They weren’t too bad. In my opinion, pig on a stick fried in breading looks more unappetizing than shellfish.

It tasted like popcorn shrimp but with different breading. Almost like tempura shrimp.

  23. Debra says:

How dare any individual make such crass comments about Gina Neely. I commend both Gina and Pat for acheiving the level of success that they have reached on this show and also their family business. They are truly an inspiration to not only black people, but, to all people who have a love for culinary art! As far as I’m concerned — those of you that made this idiodic remarks are nothing more than haters!!!!!

  24. Rose says:

Lol at Gina’s face in the last pic.

But really guys, some of you are just being plain rude. Chill out, and if The Neely’s bother you so much that you need to go on here to express your hatred, change the channel from FN to WWWF where you belong.

  25. Cheryl says:

I absolutely love the Neely’s. They are a beautiful couple and they have it all, love, success and a wonderful family life. The show is a huge success and I can not wait to purchase their new cook book.

  26. Jill says:

I love the Neely’s. Their food always looks great and they are such a cute couple. Some of you are just haters!

    • angie says:

yes pat n gina the food do look good i like itcan u e-mail me pic of your food it look good i lov it i lov looking at u i lov wan u cook to sand me some cook pic ok

  27. Zaria says:

wow man i love the Neely’s they are exactly what a true black couple should be and i love seeing them because it helps me realize that there really are strong black couples still out there i hoe to have one someday when i get older(im 14:)] i also love their southern hospitality my family is from Louisiana but i live in Seattle and i do miss the Southern-ness. there food usually looks very very tasty and i can often taste it through the tv haha but im not a big fan of corn dogs but i do love shrimp but this one is probly not there best experiment. but thats the best part of being a chef you get too experiment with new food:)

iL0ve the Neely’s and hope to meet them someday when i stop in there restaurant i often times even think of them as family, ill have to be careful not to call them Aunt Gina and Uncle Pat:)

much love to the Neely’s and all there family, may God always be with you in yall success

  28. Bubbelah says:

Fo shizzle da Neely’s bizzle! The only redeeming quality with this show is to make sure you watch it and laugh at how ludicrous it is. These homeys cannot cook worth a dang.

  29. CherryRose says:

OMG! This episode just started, and, since I haven’t seen it previously, I will subject myself to The Neely’s culinary expertise. Bon Appetit!

  30. zzr3mom says:

I can not believe that people can be so full of hatred over a cooking show. I really do not understand it and it makes me really concern for all of those people’s mental state. One bad recipe warrants someone posted those nasty disrespectful things. How horrible. I happen to love the Neely’s and I am very proud of them. They are unique in the way they approach food and I love that realness. How can you hate on that?

  31. Ferd says:

No one’s hating anyone, zzr3mom, get a grip.

  32. Mz. SaZzY says:

I CANT BELIEVE HOW SOME PEOPLE CAN BE SO RUDE AND FULL OF THEMSELVES WHEN IT COMES TO OTHER PEOPLES SUCCESS,THEY JUST HATE TO SEE SOMEONE ELSE COME UP IF ITS NOT THEM,SO 4 ALL YALL HATERS STOP HATEN. PS. I LOVE THE NEELYS AND THEIR WONDERFUL RECIPES CONGRATS AND SHAKE THEM HATERS OFF.

  33. Teague says:

I can’t believe that the Neely’s (Apparently part of Americas culinary elite.) have this many die hard fans…who all seem to say the exact same thing.

  34. CherryRose says:

“I CANT BELIEVE HOW SOME PEOPLE CAN BE SO RUDE AND FULL OF THEMSELVES WHEN IT COMES TO OTHER PEOPLES SUCCESS,THEY JUST HATE TO SEE SOMEONE ELSE COME UP IF ITS NOT THEM…”

I would ordinarily not respond to such a negative post but feel compelled to do so because this is offensive to me and to many of my fellow contributors here at FNH, I’m sure. This angry poster has no personal knowledge about anyone here but presumes that all are losers who have had little or no success in life because we choose to poke fun at Food Network shows/stars.

Many people don’t equate success in life with being on television or featured in People Magazine. Just because Mz. Sazzy hasn’t seen us on the boob tube doesn’t mean that we haven’t had successful careers in business, education, law, medicine, or that our children have not accomplished same. Not everyone has to be a television personality to be successful in life, and there is no reason why some of us would envy those who choose a life in the public eye. jmo

  35. Judith says:

Cherry Rose I agree. In fact we don’t hate these people at all, they aren’t worth the effort. We just have contempt for them and their attitude of superiority over the rest of us.

  36. Alex says:

@ Mz. SaZzY: There’s a flaw in your argument: You claim that we are “haters,” are “rude” and “full of [our]selves,” yet you are the embodiment of what you are naming us simply by posting here about how awful we allegedly are. See, if you want to take the proverbial high road, take it. Don’t take the proverbial low road by trying to tell us how you’re taking the proverbial high road. What you and others that have a problem with us should do is ignore us, just like you implore us to do with The Neelys.

  37. SHARYN says:

THE FIRST TIME i SAW THAT SHOW ON THE FOOD NETWORK I COULDN’T STAND IT. THEY SHOULD JUST GET A ROOM. i WISH THEY WOULD JUST DO A COOKING SHOW INSTEAD OF THE LOVEY DOVEY CRAP. i AM NOT INTERESTED IN THEIR MARRIAGE, BROWN SUGAR OR THE EXTENDED HONEYMOON. I TUNE INTO THE FOOD NETWORK FOR RECEIPES NOT THE NEELY’S LOVE STORY.

    • nancy f bradley says:

You go girl! I agree 150%. Well said.

      • QTPIE says:

Well said!!! If they cut out all the mess and just cook it might be a good show. But it just gets to be to much and it makes it hard to watch. I would like for them to do a show with just the brothers and focus on bbq.

    • Steven says:

I’m waiting to see the awkwardness if they divorce but the show is going strong.

  38. watt upp says:

this goes out to all the bitches hattin on the neelys: if yall hate them so much, then how u no so much about them..if u dont eva watch they show how would you know all bout they marriage. DONT HATEE!!!

  39. Alex says:

Instead of telling us “bitches” to stop “hattin” why don’t you take your own advice. Leave US alone. Technically, you’re “hattin” on us. Hypocrisy much?

  40. watt upp says:

y would i b hattin on yall ugly asses??

  41. Anna says:

I have to agree I find the Neely’s to be any thing but a role model or something anyone would want to aspire to, I am successful in my own right I have two daughters that would not be ashamed of me or their Dad. I can only comment on my own daughter when she said I feel so sorry for the daughter away at school how can her Mom do that to her? The husband is not being the man of the house. His standards should be higher than allowing the antics of his wife to dictate how he acts on TV. Just so you know that does not say I love you it says I lust you…We must be clear in sending the correct message our son’s should require more from their wives and our daughters should expect more from the husband..no I am not hating I find their antics disgusting.

    • T says:

Ok…Blah Blah Blah!! Enough already. Who are you and why are you so ignorant! Let people be who they are. Obviously they are getting paid a lot of money to put on these “antics”. Maybe you and your husband should go work on your relationship and leave Gina and Pat alone. If they disgusting to you…really need a life. Let’s talk about the food and stop being so personal! Stop dragging their daughters and other family members into this mess. This is amazing.

  42. J says:

Hey Zaria, just out of curiosity, how should a true black couple act? Since you claim the Neely’s act how a true black couple should.

Watt upp, I truely feel sorry for you. Perhaps you should take a long look at yourself before you come here insulting others. Are you truly that ignorant that you can’t see your own nasty attitude?

Honestly, you and the other commenters calling others “haters” and other sad names need to grow up.

    • T says:

Ok…now your turn. Why would you say something like that to Zaria. So negative..and probably so lonely. I think you started the nastiness. And like so many others you are in denial about your own shit! If she believes that the Neely’s display a positive relationship, who are you to contradict that.

  43. J says:

Hey Rose, what is that supposed to mean exactly when you tell the people who don’t care for the Neelys to watch WWWF instead of the FN.

It says a lot about YOU to make a comment like that. You don’t know any of the people here personally, and to make such a nasty, hinting, comment like that is disgusting. Shame on you.

  44. ANDREA E says:

I LOVE THE NEELYS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

HATERS YOU ONLY WISH IT WERE YOU !

PS GINA IS LOVELY AND HER HUBBY IS HOT NO DISRESPECT

  45. Chef Spock says:

Neely’s would be OK if they’d cut out the “shuck and jive, steppin-fetchit fo’sho’ darlin’ honey chile” manner of speech. Yeah, yeah I know, they’re from the South and all; but, cripes…it’s like they’re perpetuating their own stereotypes!

“Now, y’allll… Gina gone done fried up a big ol’ mess a catfish, y’alllll”

    Jeez!

    • nancy f bradley says:

I agree with what you said except about being from the south. I am from the south and I don’t talk like that. The difference is the way black people talk. They went to the same schools as white people. They should talk and act like normal people and they would be more liked.! The bo jive lingo is disgusting!!!

      • existentia says:

“thats the way black people talk”…wrong again. i’m from the south, went to all black schools and do not talk like that. you know what the smart thing is: NOT TO GENERALIZE AT ALL. that is how they, the neelys, talk, plain and simple. stop trying to find a category to put people in.

and who are “normal” people? i currently live in a large hispanic community and they mostly speak with accents. are they not normal because they don’t talk like “normal” people you refer to? just say what you mean by normal…WHITE. thats why you mentioned the way black people speak to begin with. but thats just like someone with privilege…think everyone is supposed to conform to your standard of “normal”.

don’t watch them if you don’t like the way they talk, but don’t say its because they are black. paula deen speaks just like them, but people think its charming when she does it. a black couple does it and they act like they were not educated with whites. YOU’RE STUPID.
        UGH…I can’t even…

…and these are the ignorant, undereducated people I have to leave and deal with. jeez.

    • QTPIE says:

LOL! You are right he says yall I know at least 50 times before the first commerical break. And how you can tell its an act is when his brothers or mom is on none of them talk like that.

  46. Joyce says:

I am a black 59 year old women. I have seen a lot in life and what they do on that show is a big put on. It would be so much better if they just do it without all that, it really gets on your nerves. I have been to the restaurant in downtown Memphis, and the food, the service and the cleaniless of the place left much to be desired. The restroom was awful. I was shocked they would have allowed other food network chefs in there, I would have been embarrased.

    • T says:

      Responding to Joyce

As a 59 year old BLACK WOMAN I would expect a better comment than this. GET A LIFE. You sound just as bad as the other bigots on this blog. If you are looking for 5 star accommodations then go to somewhere else. Did you inform them of these things??? Probably Not!! You just decided to trash them on this website. Take the time and visit the other food network star restaurants…then let us know.
Learn how to write a constructive comment without trashing others.

      • jpquinlan says:

Who the hell are you the Neely’s whipping bitch. What are you going to do respond to everyone who doesn’t like them. Opinions are like assholes that is why you too are afforded the oportunity of responding here.

    • QTPIE says:

I think you made a valid point. If you are on TV and you have a restaurant expect for viewers to visit the restaurant and it should be in top shape AT ALL TIMES. People go to places based sometimes on what they see on TV (its called advertisement).

  47. Ferd Berfle says:

What Joyce has described is, to me, the bottom line. FN trots out these restaurateurs as food experts (Neelys, Pauler Deen, Bobby Flay, Guy Flashy) but how good are their restaurants, really? If they’re dirty or the food is mundane, then the celebrity cooks really don’t have much to offer the viewer.

    • starfish says:

I have been to two of the FN restaurants, Emeril’s and Paula Deen’s. Both ends of the spectrum to say the least. But both were very clean, service was great, food was awesome at Emeril’s. The food at Lady and Son’s was very good. I would think Ina and chef Anne would be good experiences but other than that there is no other FN celebs cooking I would try. Too fake

  48. jpquinlan says:

I agree (with Ferd). It’s also nice to get feedback from folks who have actually visited these establishments and it should have some bearing on how they are viewed by the general public on the boob tube and confirm or deny any doubts folks who are viewing these shows for more then just the drama. If I visit a restaurant and someone gives me clean milk in a dirty glass I guarantee there would be no bite marks in my tongue whether I be visiting the Neely’s or Ronald McDonald.

    • T says:

Apparently I am their whipping bitch…it appears that people can make personal attacks on the Nelly’s and can’t take people making personal attacks on them. People who say things like “she’s a bitch” “She looks like a pig” “They disgust me”, should be prepared to be called ass holes and whatever else. There is a fine line between being disrespectful and providing healthy criticism. There may be dishes I do not like that they prepare, but educated sensible people know how to express that without being rude. It’s a TV show, they have to be over the top…that’s why they have a show and we don’t.

So with mind, take your own advice, realize this is just my opinion and move on. Have a great day!

      • jpquinlan says:

Ditto! It would really be nice if you could learn to post your replys with their corresponding comments! It might help get your point across a little better too if one did not have to figure out who or what in the hell you were refering to. Unlike you I love the fact that we are all individuals and that is why I posted just for you Sugar!
        BUH BYE

  49. t says:

Are u serious? Your comment was not only rude but potrays you as an uneducated fool. Apparently they captured your attention long enough for you to write this comment. There are a lot more unattractive people on food network than Gina. She is beautiful. Get a life and stop being a bitch ass!

  50. gels says:

I suspect many of the folks who detest the Neely’s winks and subtle bedroom humor while they cook are themselves stuck in a cold and lifeless relationship.

Sure, the Neely’s are over the top. My girl and I constantly roll our eyes and smile at their shtick, but couldn’t imagine someone preferring two quiet wooden stiffs in the kitchen.

People, what’s worse? The lovey dovey Neely’s helping each other prepare a meal, or some detached husband screaming for his bitch in the kitchen to fix his damn supper and bring him a beer while he watches the game?

    I thought so.

  51. Tieshia says:

Bottom line, everything is not for everyone. I love watching the Neelys’ but if what they are making does not interest me, I watch something else. Please show some respect to all people, whether you like them or not.

  52. Lisa Winbush says:

The Neely’s show is a disaster. They do not cook food – they cook “slop”. And Gina is Miss Piggy incarnated. They need to get a room, not have their own show on FN. They are an embarrassment to real cooks and chefs everywhere else. Gina – stop eating your slop and get to the gym…

  53. MorganLF says:

The Neely”s are truly disturbing. They cannot speak the queens English and he has spray painted hair!! Uggggggh!!!

    • bradmark says:

They speak the negro dialect and act like a couple of jungle bunnies! They need to act and talk like normal people. They took English in school like the rest of us.!!

      • Resa says:

Who says “took English,” except someone who stopped reading after elementary school. You’re “normal”? Please read a book. Note: There is no need to include a period with exclamation points. Also, there is no need to call people names or make racially disparaging comments, unless, of course, you’re ….well, we know what you are.

      • SaraCVT says:

I do, and I am a National Spelling Champion, as well as holding two college degrees. I always did very in English. But I still can’t see the error. What would be the acceptable term, in your estimation–”took English class”?

  54. bethany says:

The Neely’s are a disgrace to the Food Network. The way they talk and act is disgusting. He is constantly inflating her ego by telling her how sweet and sexy she is. The worst part is how horrible their English is and their use of black dialect. With her dancing around the kitchen shaking her booty and destroying the English language with their black dialect they should be on the BET network. !!!

  55. Resa says:

Gina Neely is so refreshing, and I love Gina and her wonderful husband. They’re so entertaining and talented – that’s why they’ve been on FoodTV for so many years.

My guess is that most folks who don’t like her, don’t like Southerners or African-American women. AND, that’s okay, but why get online and whine about? (Note: There is absolutely nothing grammatically wrong with their English. If you’re complaining about it, you probably never took a linguistics course and don’t know what a regional dialect is.)

I really want to tell you to go your house work, but you’re probably already doing them while Gina and the rest of us who like her, are busy doing what we love. Peace!

  56. wanda says:

    what r u people talkin about its just shrimp dog’s stop hatin….. go neely’s i luv u guy’s

  57. wanda says:

hey what the hell r u people talkin about the neely’s r off the chain i love them .stop hatein leave them alone go…..gina… go pat u r cute good work……

    • Ferd Berfle says:

Wanda, could you please try expressing your opinion in English? Otherwise, it’s just not comprehensible. Thanks ever so much.

  58. laurie says:

Gina Neely is the most annoying, obnoxious woman on the planet. She’s constantly swinging her humongous butt around acting like she all cute (OMG…..she is SO NOT!!!). The Neely’s put the N in -igger, the J in -igaboo and the J in -unglebunny. They couldn’t be more ghetto. I’m a southern woman with pride, but they are not southern. They are simply black trash.

    • Darren says:

As a middle-aged African American from TN, I would have to say that I agree with you. The people who are saying they act that way because they are “southern” couldn’t be more incorrect. They act like that partly because that is how they sold the vision of their show to FN and partly because they think that’s what “black folk” want to see. Unfortunately, FN also thinks that is what FN audiences wants to see but they couldn’t be more wrong. FN audiences don’t want to see fake people bouncing off the walls, kissing each other every 3 seconds, and exchanging pet names. Black or white, the majority of FN audiences want to see COOKING! Leave the rest of the stuff for when the cameras are off.

  59. Tron says:

It amazes me how when black people finally get a spot on the Food Network you hate on them. There are things that any of the chefs/cooks on FN make that look nasty…and so what?? But stop hating that woman. Gina has done nothing to you. I’m sure you’re just sitting home alone with no one to love so you wonder why she’s so happy and you’re not. You want to wipe the happiness off of her face…too bad you just have this dumb blog as your outlet. GET A LIFE!!! Now taste that on a stick haters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Andrea says:

you just don’t get it do you? sure black people getting a spot on the FN is great but there’s a certain way to act and carry yourself and they do the opposite. if you watch the show you should have the sense to see that these people are an embarrassment to the whole network and not to mention southerners, they couldn’t be more wrong about thinking what the audience wants to see. we want to see southern down home cooking not get a paragraph of what these two do when the cameras are off. we want to see endearing fun folks with heart and charm, and most importantly people that are real! hate to break it to ya but these clowns are none of the above, no Gina Neely has done nothing to me directly but she certainly has succeeded in getting on national TV and shaming black women alike so yeah in a sense she has insulted me and many. and before any Neely fans start tossing the stones this is my opinion, you can think what you want if you think their awesome wonderful fun genuine people good for you. just know that not everyone will and does agree with you,

  60. LoveToCook says:

The Neely’s are awesome and my husband and I both love their show. Pat and Gina are adorable together and really do a great job. Great recipes, too!

  61. Rachel says:

I tried giving this show a chance, but after watching about 2 episodes I gave up. Gina is beyond annoying. I cannot stand her dancing around and calling herself the “spice fairy”. This show would have more viewers if it was just Pat by himself. I’d also like to comment to the people who keep saying that other people are just jealous of the Neely’s relationship, you don’t know them!!!! I’m pretty sure the way they act on camera is just that, an ACT!! It is fake, fake, fake.

  62. SUSIE says:

YOU CAN BET THESE NEELY HATERS ARE REPUBLICANS, THEY ARE TRYING TO DISCREDIT ANYONE OF COLOR BECAUSE OF OBAMA. THE NEELYS ARE A VERY CLASSY COUPLE AND I HAVE TRIED MANY OF THEIR RECIPES WHICH HAVE BEEN A GREAT SUCCESS WITH MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS. THE NEELYS ARE A LOT OF FUN, STAY THE WAY YOU ARE GINA AND PAT. DON’T LET THESE CONSERVATIVE FOOLS RUIN WHAT YOU HAVE GOING FOR YOU. THESE PEOPLE ARE VERY SICK!

  63. Boada says:

I have to agree and disagree with many of the comments I read. I do agree that Pat does have an annoying laugh and Gina can be quite obnoxious, especially when she puts her husband down, and I do not like that. I have tried many of their recipes and they are very delicious. I am not from the south and at times I do not know what they are saying, but I just keep on watching and listening to their cooking show. I know Paula can be very hard to understand at times also, but I do not watch her that often. I do no cook their kind of food on a daily basis, it’s a little too much pork and butter at times.

  64. Kandi says:

I will first start by saying that we are each entitled to our own opinion. I have not agreed with everything I’ve read here by everyone, however I respect the fact that people are simply stating their opinion. To me, that’s what makes us all interesting. Now, I will give my opinion: Gina has a VERY over-the-top personality but I can’t say she’s a good/bad person based on the 22 min. segments viewed on FN. Pat seems a little henpecked and it’s true, the guy does say “yall” excessively. It even sounds like they’re reading sometimes to me. But, I still watch them sometimes because they’re kinda entertaining in a weird way. Kinda like watching a fight break out. It’s not necessarily a great thing to watch happen but you do it anyway just to see what will happen next.

  65. Boada says:

@Kandi, I like how you put it. Yes it is something at times I don’t want to watch but I do, and it is crazy, a professor told us in class the term for that, but I forgot what it is called. He gave an example of, how there is an accident on the road and you don’t want to look that way but you do. The Neely’s are tolerable at times and that is when I can enjoy the whole show. I especially like it when the mom’s come on, they are sweet.

  66. MS.DIVA says:

Candance, Bethany you two bitches, and all the other haters don’t know shit about the Neeleys.
If you dont like the show, its quite simple:
CHANGE THE CHANNEL YOU BITTER, STUPID ASS FUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  67. THENEELYSSUCKBALLS says:

First off I’m BLACK, so I don’t get ridiculous racist or Republican accusations. I’m actually a black, LIBERAL…which has absolutely nothing to do with how bad the Neely’s fucking suck…but since you peons decided to bring RACISM and POLITICS into this discussion I thought I would throw that out there.

Second, yes, its true the Neelys DO suck and many black people will attest to this. In fact, my boyfriend and I have been saying this since they started on the Food Network, and I just so happened to google “Neelys annoying” when I faced the unfortunate circumstance of waking up this morning with their show blaring on my television.

SO TONE IT DOWN a couple notching for Christ sake. All the “baby-boo-boo” shit gets old real fast, NEWS FLASH: we don’t care about your sex life!

& clearly all the irrate responses claiming that we’re “haters,” “fat,” “republicans,” “low lifes,” because we DON’T LIKE the Neelys are from family members or likely people that work FOR the Neelys. Hell, I wouldn’t count out that it may be the NEELY’S themselves…

OMG! Listen everyone. Please stop all this ugliness, Ok? All of you have some true and valid points, but we are talking about human beings here. We all have flaws. We all make mistakes. None of us are perfect, and God knows we all need God’s grace and mercy just to exist. Let’s remember the Serenity Prayer. You know, …’ accept the things we can not change, change the things we can, and wisdom to know the difference”. All of us, at the end of the day want and need the same things. We all want love and acceptance. Sometimes people are going through struggles, or are fighting some type of battle within themselves that noone but them and God knows about. Therefore we should try to be kinder than necessary. Gina really seems to cry out for attention and acceptance by the way she “carries on”. I don’t believe she means anybody any harm. Please cut her some slack. Try to understand why she acts the way she does. Pat seems to be trying to give her that reassurance, support, and confidence that she desperately needs. Maybe she was emotionally abused by her first husband for all we know. All I’m saying is please people, especially BLACK people, lets try to uplift, and encourage one another, ok? There is a way to express how you feel without being so mean. Remember, divide and conquer. Lord knows we don’t need another 400 years of history to repeat itself. There is a way to reach out to these people and offer constructive criticism that will get your point across to them, and may actually bring about some changes. But name-calling, and insults only bring negativity, and will not bring about any positive changes at all. Remember, God is love. Let’s all try to treat one another with the same respect we ourselves want. The Neeley’s are just trying to entertain and be interesting while they cook. They will soon realize that they don’t need all the extras just to be a good show. But give them space to grow and realize that for themselves. Live and let Live. Peace and Blessings to All!

I came across this forum by chance and read through the reviews of Gina and Pat. There are lots of people way off base with this one and others trying to focus on the issue – the issue is Gina and Pat. This has nothing to do with Republicans, Liberals, Obama, God, Black, White, Space Aliens and whatever else people are arguing about. Really, people?? It’s a cooking show, for God’s sake. It has nothing to do with anything other than Cooking so base your opinions on that alone!

Personally, I have been a fan of the FN for years. I saw this show when it first came on and although I am a big fan of most of the FN shows, this is not one of my favorites. I agree with many posts – Gina is a problem. She’s trying to hard. If that’s her ‘real’ personality, then she isn’t someone I’d get along with or care to know. She’s annoying as hell. But what particularly bothers me is the way she pronounces things – Shrimp is not “shrimp”. It’s “srump”. What the hell is srump?? That’s just an example. If she’s going to be on a nationally televised show, the least she can do is enunciate her words. Salt isn’t “Salt”…. it’s “sawt”. Sawt?? Really??? Learn how to talk, Gina, then maybe we’ll start taking you seriously! Oh, and learn how to make something more than grits would be nice, too. Stop depending on your husband to do all of the work. Give up the “Spice Fairly” routine because no one cares.

I turn the channel when this show is on. I hope FN cancels it soon because it’s just wasting airtime.

  69. DL says:

Pat and Gina represent themselves not blacks, southerners, or what married couples should be like. Whether they are black, white, asian or spanish the show should be about good cooking and nothing else.

  70. DMH says:

You guys just hate black people that are married and successful. BOTTOM LINE!!!!
