Food Network Chefs Are Horrible At Twitter
Posted on April 2nd 2009 by Jillian Madison

We’ve been following a few of the Food Network personalities on Twitter for the last few months, and boy, are they horrible at it. Their tweets range from boring and pointless, to self indulgent and  strictly self promotional (which is considered REALLY LAME in the land of Twitter). Let’s look at some of the worst offenders:
.
1. Giada DeLaurentiis needs to hire a ghost Twitterer. Three updates? Two of which say the same thing? And zero followers? That says “I’m not interested in you guys at all. It’s all about me.” Weak, Giada, weak.
.

.
2. Tyler Florence is completely in love with himself. We’ve been following him for a few months, and 95% of his Tweets are stupid self promotional links (a practice that’s frowned upon by Twitter users). If he’s not bragging about his new baby food, he’s linking to a blog that mentioned his name once. I think he sits around googling himself 24 hours a day, and just Twitters the results.
.

.
3. Paula Deen is slightly more interesting than Tyler, but her Tweets are mostly self promotional and most of them mention QVC at least once. It’s like, okay Paula, we get it. You’re appearing on QVC. And you like coffee. And you travel. Message received.
.

.
4. Cat Cora – who I’m a big fan of – just BORES ME TO TEARS on Twitter. And seriously, who still says RAD??? That word went out in 1992, along with Christian Slater’s career.

I recently discovered your site…LOVE IT. Can’t get enough. You’re dead on every time! Especially about Rachael Ray being obsessed with tomatillos.

Also, when is someone going to count how many time Tyler Florence say “K” during his shows?! Makes. Me. Crazy.

  2. Miseenplace says:

I have more followers on Twitter than Giada!

  3. Bee says:

Why is a link to a story on the new Health and Human Services head self-promotion by Tyler Florence?

  4. rad says:

I still say rad. Without sarcasm.

  5. [...] long been calling Tyler out on his self indulgent, largely self promotional tweets. If he’s not mentioning his new baby food (called “Sprout” – haha, so funny, GET [...]

  6. BidFunShop says:

Maybe most of them don’t even want to bother with internet type things. To each their own, you know. There is an even balance there between your everyday life and what’s happening out on the internet.

  7. Maris says:

No! I don’t think this is real. I follow Giada and she’s had more than 3 updates.

  8. I don’t know quite what you want from people. Seriously, most other people’s aren’t any better. Paula’s and Cat’s are particular normal seeming. What? Do you expect that because they’re famous, they need to be particularly stunning? “I just had an orgasm from the avocado wraps my friend brought over!” Or are you looking for cat-fights. “I hate that Rachel Ray. Who does that messy food disaster think she is, anyhow?”

I think you’ve read too many Perez tweets if you’re looking for something particularly worthy of juice and gossip.

    Cheers to good food!
