Paula Deen recently invited Kathy Griffin and her crew to her house in Savannah to film an episode of My Life On The D-List. The episode aired on Bravo last night, and guys, it was absolutely hilarious. Paula was charming, gracious, and genuinely funny, and the episode made me see her in a very different – and far more flattering – light.
Things I learned about Paula Deen from her appearance on Kathy Griffin’s show:
1. Paula Deen was robbed at gunpoint.
2. Paula Deen has her own drag queen named Paul A. Deen.
3. Paula Deen sleeps in silky black pajamas.
4. Unlike other women on the Food Network stars, Paula Deen never spits. She always swallows.
Highlights:
Kathy Griffin hitting Paula Deen in the head with a stick, Kathy Griffin trying to seduce Bobby Deen, Kathy serving hoecakes at the Lady & Sons, and many snarky, quick-witted one-liners from Paula’s drunk assistant. Here are a few video clips, but you should really hunt down the whole episode if you didn’t catch it last night. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

THIS WEEK: Ina Garten's "beginner" recipes, new Food Network shows starting in September, thumbing through an issue of Semi-Homemade magazine, Rachael Ray's daytime talk show, Aarti's "accountability group", Claire Robinson on Big Daddy's House, another sensual reading of Alex Guarnaschelli's tweets, sink or swim voicemail, and much more.
I watched it. I really did enjoy it, Paula went up some serious points in my book.
I like the fact that she has not let all this go to her head (ok her wallet with all her licensing ) but still…

I had never watched Kathy’s show before and despite a few too many ‘bleeps’ for my taste, I have to say that I liked it more than I expected to. One or two too many references to poop and pee, but I guess that’s to be expected with Paula. I wonder if her drunken assistant can be that funny when he’s not sloshed! And, I really got a chuckle out of Kathy’s ‘attempted’ seduction of Bobby. I can’t decide if he was just being a good sport about it or if he was loving every minute of all the attention he was getting.
Lady C, don’t fret. Just remember that she employs every one of her family members to insure she can rake in barrels of (undeserved) cash, fakes an extreme southern drawl to suit the occasion, POOPS IN HER OWN DRIVEWAY, admits to the open public that her house SMELLS LIKE URINE AND HAS DOG SHIT EVERYWHERE, cooks with just about as many prepackaged foods as Aunt (hic)(burrpp) Sandy…why,these are but just a few of my favorite things!
I’m a huge fan of Kathy’s and I’m glad to see you covered Paula’s appearance last night! I laughed pretty much the whole way through it. I was neutral about Paula before watching it, but even I found myself wanting to hang out with the old coot and her friends/family.

Okay, so who else thinks Bobby Deen is gay? What if Brandon (the drunk assistant) is really his boyfriend?
Brandon’s partner’s name is Jim — he mentioned him in the show. Something was said about Jim bringing him a gin while Brandon soaks in the tub. As for Bobby, he’s a mystery. There’s been alot of speculation and info on a few websites (one blog in particular), but it’s hard to draw a clear conclusion.

I’ve been sold on Bobby’s preferring the drumstick for quite some time. Truth be told, I’m fairly certain Michael McDonald (Stewart!) is too. Is it possible it wasn’t so random after all? I agree with Dani and Byrdie. Paula gives me swamp gut.

Michael McDonald is gay, he frequents certain gay bars in West Hollywood. Im not sure about bobby, I tend to think he is, but it may just be wishful thinking. Im a southern boy and know the old “act like your dating girls” routine and that is what it looks like he is doing, ACTING like dating girls.

I have met both of her son’s (I’m from California) when my man and I recently went to Savannah. They talked with us, took pics, such nice guys!! My man has met Paula and Michael, and again such very nice down home people…..kudos to them on their new home, it’s looking beautiful so far….we were on the dock next door and were in awe…we love u mom…err Paula Deen!
