Alton-rexic! I swear he looks like a zombie from the thriller music video

  2. anjarew says:

I was there in person and believe he was quite offended when I took my laptop out to work at the same time.

  3. Motzi Greps says:

    The Crypt Keeper!

  4. Alton is good. I found the graph indicating “recipe” searching very interesting. And his cranberry bourbon cocktail will be tried in short order.

Anyone else catch how the MC referred to Paula Deen as a “talk show host” first, then “cook”?

  5. redips says:

The polarity of FN is amazing. I love Alton but can not stand anyone else.

  6. Nutmeg Nanny says:

I love me some Alton…he is the best!

  7. Alexis says:

Love love love that video! I tried to watch the Google presentation and it was really really awkward. No one was laughing at his jokes and there were uncomfortable silences.

  8. PsyInFeld says:

    YAY for AB!

  9. Mick says:

I have never liked him. His ‘Good Eats’ show always felt like something the nerds in high school who loved Monty Python would make. Lately, he’s become sarcastic and bitter. I guess he’s pissed Guy sells a bazillion more books than he does. A world without Alton Brown on Television is a world I can get behind.

  10. christellar says:

HEYLL YA IM DOWN WITH B!
    cute

  11. JaySticLe says:

“Mick” sounds like he’s Fietti in disguise.

  12. miseenplace says:

@ Mick — AB becoming sarcastic and bitter… dude where have you been? AB has always been that way AND at his personal events he lets it fly. Guess since this was FN sponsored and all he didn’t go hacking on the other FN “talent.” You should here some of the rips on them at other events. I’ve been to many, I would know ;)

AB’s cookbook is a NY Times bestseller, FYI

  13. Di says:

    Thanks for that, Jillian :)

And I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – Alton is the man.
I’ve even gotten used to his new skinny self.
Your jeans fit you very nicely indeed, AB!

  14. Glock says:

I like Good Eats, nerdy as it is, but that anniversary special thing he did a few weeks ago was PAINFUL to watch. I was embarrassed for him. So, so bad. NOT funny.

  15. Anne says:

I agree with the sarcastic–which endears me to the man all the more-I don’t see the ‘bitter’, though. Disillusioned, maybe.
That said, I loved the presentation! And, ditto on the jeans comment! :)

  16. Martin says:

I think Alton Brown is great. Definitely one of the few bright spots for Food Network. This video also shows that he has lost a significant amount of weight. I hope he is in good health and the weight loss was intentional and under the supervision of a health professional.

On another semi-related topic: Who will be the Next Iron Chef? I am betting it will be Chef Garces.

  17. Kari says:

Thanks so much for posting this. It made my Friday!

  18. KittyMewmewNJ says:

AB is good eats and super sexy, light enough now for me to tackle him, throw him over my shoulder, and run away with him ;)

  19. Anne says:

I am indeed, down with Alton B. I know the video is long, but if you do like him, it’s worth watching.

  20. Dante says:

I was creeped out after watching it, these google people actually know specific episode names and characters, I thought it was geeky to remember “Stuffing is Evil”, but damn.

  21. KittyMewMewNJ says:

    @ Anne: Word!
@ Dante: Good Video , but I feel the same as you….it’s okay geeks are in the house!

  22. Mick says:

It’s true, I’m Guy in disguise… you all caught me. Damn you all! (sarcasm drips drips drips).

My comment was based on radio clip Alton did to promote his coffee table book, where he basically slammed all the hosts on the network. I think Alton caters to folks who like to bash on the FN talent, who are wonderful targets. He sucks up to them. However, Alton suckles at the same suckling device that they all do. So, his pretension sparkles a little brighter for me. BTW you can also substitute the word pretension for hypocrisy for the those of you out there who really don’t like AB.

    Good Eats = Food Unwrapped.

  23. Barb says:

Glock, I’m with you on that anniversary special. That was awful, with the exception of the funny clips from old shows. He should have done an hour of that. I would have been pissed if I were one of those people who actually paid to go to that.

Mick, dude, you can’t bash Alton on this site, everyone LOVES him. You will become very unpopular. Personally, I think you can bash whoever you want, but it’s better to try to be funny. (Ya, I know this post isn’t funny. I’m a hypocrite.) :-)

  24. S says:

But… but Alton isn’t always right!

Not like I’ve learned to cook from FN, but does anyone who cooked BEFORE they watched him on FN actually like his advice? Sure, his show is cute and all, but honestly I have never had good results with his recipes, esp. when compared to my own recipes, and sometimes his advice is just… plain… bad.

  25. Lala says:

I’ve actually had really great experiences with his recipes. I’ve used his acorn squash recipe (stuffed with stuffing, its freaking amazing!), his grendine recipe (this was more for fun, kinda a waste $$ wise), and his pancakes. All were a lot of fun, and totally something I’d do again.

Honestly, his stuffed acorn squash has been a lifesaver. I’m a vegetarian, so we tweaked the stuffing recipe to be ‘meat free’ and now we put it in the squash. I get to have awesome stuffing every thanksgiving, and I would have never came up with the idea on my own. Just saying…
