THIS WEEK: Another tailgating weekend! Alex G's onion rings, an awful slow cooker experience, Ina & Jeffrey Garten's lame steak throwdown, Jennifer Hudson's annoying Weight Watchers commercial, Restaurant Impossible's cheap makeovers, and more.

To be fair, Elton is the name of his fictional nephew that appears in various episodes. Maybe this is one of them?
Doubtful. More like whoever was writing the decription was an idiot.
Jenna, you got my vote!
Yeah, I actually saw that episode. It’s ridiculous. The mess-up I mean. :P
I have that episode, like all the others, TIVO’d, and no, it isn’t.
I also have this episode on my DVR. It’s sad these companies keep messing up the descriptions for Alton’s episodes, especially this one (lots of very useful info in it).
The solution is, obviously, for all of us to slap a season pass to “Good Eats” onto our DVRs and continue to worship at the altar of Alton as our food/science God, ignoring the interference of our respective cable & satellite providers.
It’s not just Comcast. I saw the same episode description (including the misspelling) on the Time Warner guide last night.
lol maybe it came from someone at FN then?
Typically the network hires a company to caption the show and then that caption follows the show, no matter what provider broadcasts it.
Sardines should come with a warning: May change your lifestyle.
The nephew of Alton appearing in various episodes is Alton’s real life nephew and his sister. I read he never hires outside actors to play the parts, they are all played by himself, his crew and others connected to the show, which is family.
Actually, Elton is an actor. He does hire some outside actors, but most of the roles are played by his crew.
He states in the Good Eats book that he has a small cast of actors, including his (fake) sister.
Absolutely wrong — the only family members of his that have appeared on episodes are his Grandmother (“Ma-mea”), mother, and daughter. Alton Brown is an only child. All the other relatives are made up.
The actor’s name is John Herina.
By the way, how could the kid be both “Alton’s real life nephew and his sister.” That’s trickier than being your own grandpa.
Alton looks good dressed up as Elton!!
Ha! We have DirecTV and saw that Elton was mentioned in the description. We kept waiting for the nephew to show up! ;)
I did the same thing a couple of years ago (on Dish Network. I got so excited to see Elton again!
Yeah, it sounds like the error was actually directly from FN themselves… that’s even more pathetic.
Yeah it had to be a Food Network error, because Direct TV said the same thing.
I had to check my dvr, and I guess my cable company is Alton Brown friendly, because it’s spelled perfectly.
I love Elton AND Alton, but that’s just wrong :/
lol!
I know how to SPELL Alton, but I’m never 100% sure how to pronounce it.
And his brother, BA, is always esp. hot mmm
It’s Al-TEN, I believe.
But is it awl-ten or al-ten?
He pronounces his name Al-ten, I believe.
During Feasting on Asphalt, he visited Alton, Illinois, during which he noted the difference in pronunciations between Alton, Illinois (ALL-ton) and Alton Brown (you can call me AL-ton).
As soon as Elton puts cooking oils to use in the bedroom as well as the kitchen and the car, tell him to gimme a call.
*wink*
I’m sure Elton knows all about ‘exotic’ oils
I remember when rock was young, me and Alton had so much fun
Nice one!
All the young girls love Alton…
Never noticed before, but Alton does resemble a young Elton.
How pathetic is it that FN can’t get the name of one of their only good hosts right?
Looks like someone at FoodNetwork doesn’t watch Good Eats.
I always knew he was the lost son of Elton John and Thomas Dolby.
i will be watching for “elton” to bust a move to crocodile rock as everybody knows saturday night is all right for figthing while i’m still standing because my mama can’t buy me love and i guess that’s why they call it the blues. 8)
Best ever.
I’d love to hate on Food Network on this one, but can’t. Networks typically farm out closed captioning to different caption houses (I used to work for one) and the captions will follow the show, no matter what provider broadcasts it.
Sorry, but FN is off the hook on this one. Don’t sweat it though. They’ll do something else embarrasing soon enough.
It said the same thing on DISH too. A case of clinical ignunce.
Maybe he’s friends with “Andrew Bourdain”
Time Warner had the same typo. I’m thinking probably FN or Scripps is responsible for it. But guys, it IS just a typo. Meh.
