THIS WEEK: Another tailgating weekend! Alex G's onion rings, an awful slow cooker experience, Ina & Jeffrey Garten's lame steak throwdown, Jennifer Hudson's annoying Weight Watchers commercial, Restaurant Impossible's cheap makeovers, and more.

I don’t what to say, Sandra Lee has the same birthday as my dad, even to the year
I think I might cry
I can’t wait to listen tomorrow! I can’t to find out what’s inside “Semi-Edible Shit” magazine! ;-)
Great podcast as usual guys. Ever think to put your content on stitcher? I know a lot of podcasters are using that app. Oh well, keep up the good work.
aaaah, debra dickkstein.
refers to herself as a “beginning chef?” yet she has no kitchen tools?
wtf? first of all yer not a chef. perhaps an aspiring home cook.
did she just call herself a chef again. why, yes. yes she did.
aaron mcghetto said “suckle-it” for succulent on best thing I ever ate…whoa.
Hey Jillian, you mentioned Deborah Dickstein having a bad name, but when I went to Germany, last year, I saw a name on a mailbox that was “Dr. Berhard Kock” LMAO!
I was listening to this week’s podcast while running today and when Peekoe (sp.?)barked Ijumped into fight or flight mode! sorta have a history of being attacked by dogs and I was happy to realize seconds later it was only u’re little dog! Hope he’s stays healthy. Luved the podcast btw, made the run fly by.
Oh, and just a quick note on the ThinkGeek Marshmallows. That site is marketed toward “programmers” who need the caffeine to endure their late night programming sessions. The marshmallows aren’t something the normal housewife would buy and have lying around (for the kids to get into). They’re something a geek/nerd would have at his desk at work.
Just sayin’
Oddly I understand the Burning the Midnight Oil aspect of working, but really MARSHMALLOWS? So are you saying that EVERY GEEK would be like OH I NEED THOSE BECAUSE I AM A PROGRAMMER? Your argument is kind of invalid. I found the Marshmallows to be kind of ridiculous, even Googled them after hearing it mentioned on the PodCast, and if you do need to spend $20.00 on “treats” because you are a so called NERD, then you NEED to work the EXTRA hours of OVERTIME to pay for frivolous GEEKY habits!
Have you ever been to ThinkGeek? I am a total geek/nerd and love the site and have lots of programmer friends who love it too. What’s great about the site is, it’s geared toward people like me who are novelty collectors. The ‘geek’ aspect about their products is exactly what we’re about.
I’ve order so many things from there that my nerdy friends at work think are great. The caffeinated marshmallows are just that. They work both as a novelty item and as a nice boost of caffeine. Hell, put one in your hot chocolate. Good stuff!
My point is totally valid.
But what you are saying or seem to be ARGUING to is that these were MADE and DEVELOPED for ThinkGeek. I think not. This website, I doubt is the ONLY outlet that is selling these. So, with that said, to your point and wrongly so: a child could “obtain” these, or be given to them as a gift. Jus Sayin’ -as you so eloquently put it.
No, they’re not exclusive to ThinkGeek, but they’re a novelty product and as such, are most likely sold via websites that cater to nerds/geeks. I can’t imagine you’d see them on the shelves at the local grocery stores.
And as for a child accidentally eating one, it’s no different than a child grabbing a Red Bull from the fridge and thinking it’s fruit juice. If you have kids, you gotta be smart about where you leave this stuff.
But again, from what I’ve seen on the web, this product is definitely not marketed toward your average housewife, so I would bet money that 90-95% of this stuff won’t be laying around for kids to eat.
and interestingly enough, when you go to their main site and click “add to cart”, guess where you’re transferred?
http://www.staypuftmarshmallows.com/
That’s right: thinkgeek.com
Interesting?? ;)
I gotta back you up on ThinkGeek.com, MarkH88. Their site is all kinds of awesome, but it is NOT a kids’ site. It has candy and sweets, but they are usually caffeinated, and meant for computer geeks (such as my husband). For Father’s Day, I got him (among other things) some caffeinated gum and a case of Bawls (caffeinated root beer, which he loves).
One of his favorite treats is the caffeinated brownies, made from a mix you can buy from them. I bake them up and include them in his lunches, but am very careful to keep them out of reach of our 7-year-old twins, and make regular, uncaffeinated brownies for them. Like Mark says, you gotta be smart about where you leave this stuff.
ThinkGeek.com DOES have stuff for kids, mostly clothing and toys, by the way.
Here’s something you’re forgetting about when thinking about saving Ina and using her shent. That would mean she would be on the island wearing no shent for a majority of the time. That might grow very tiresome.
Are african americans not offended by the “english” spoken by the Neelys and McCargo?
Yet another fantastic podcast. The quality of these never ceases to amaze, not just with the content, but production quality as well.
Tell Michelle that if she should ever decide to quit her day job, she could probably make a decent living reading these things for $9.99/minute :D
Where is the podcast this week?!!! I would accept that you are too busy or away….but could you at least let us know if there will not be one this week??????
Um, we did let you know. Perhaps you should re-read our labor day post, where we clearly mention that the podcast will be back on September 13 :)
BAZINGA!! ;)
