Good to see Alton plump back up!
I notice they didn’t include his mole, though. I thought they’d be all over that. And AB would die before he’d smear butter all over meat–that’s more Paula Deen’s style.
Not enough “uhs,” though.
Yeah, seriously. He practically makes a living out of those.
Why doesn’t Alton do something about that mole in real life? It’s gross and you just know that hair grows out of it. Yum, let’s make some food now.
It’s gone – I saw him at the food show in Cleveland this weekend. No mole.

However…Mexican vanilla usually isn’t “good vanilla” (but it depends on how trustworthy the brand is). More often than not, however, it isn’t pure vanilla. Tonka bean extract is added to boost the vanilla flavor, while skimping on the actual vanilla and saving money (as tonka beans are much cheaper than vanilla). Because it’s “all natural,” and they still have some vanilla in there (just in smaller amounts), it isn’t labeled as”artificial vanilla flavor,” just as “vanilla,” or “vanilla extract” (without the “pure”). Tonka bean extract is high in coumarin, a toxic compound that can damage the kidneys and liver.
