Food Network Humor Podcast: Episode 20

THIS WEEK: Another tailgating weekend! Alex G’s onion rings, an awful slow cooker experience, Ina & Jeffrey Garten’s lame steak throwdown, Jennifer Hudson’s annoying Weight Watchers commercial, Restaurant Impossible’s cheap makeovers, and more.

re: slow cookers. Hey, it isn’t my favorite kitchen gadget; I mean, it doesn’t sit on my counter 24/7. However! My crock pot earns its place and works AWESOME for certain dishes, especially for braising otherwise tough meats like pork shoulder and beef brisket. Good luck with your recipes!
re: Guy Fieri’s ridiculous RITZ Cracker recipes. I am sooo going to enter that contest with ridiculous recipes of my own! If I do, y’all will vote for me, won’t you?
Hooray! I will save it and listen to it tomorrow evening as I de-stress from a long day at work. Love the FNH Podcast and, especially, listening to it at the end of a long Monday!
Since you guys went to the O-Network, I’d like to hear your thoughts on this:
Syfy is going to have a cooking show on it. It’s going to focus on cooking science/gatronomy or whatever.
Anything that any FN host makes in a slow cooker literally becomes a “crock of shit”!
Great episode this week guys, I listened to it on the drive to college. Had some real laugh-out-loud moments with all this.
Guy Fieri’s recipes take that long? Sheesh, they can’t even be that good because the saltiness of the Ritz would be too much. I have to ask though, what do you two think of the “We Love That Guy!” jingle they keep doing with his shows.
On slow cookers, that recipe sounded awful, but I could personally give you great recipes for the crockpot like stews, meatloaf or filling for quesadillas.
Can’t wait for the next one!
Loved the podcast girls :)
I watched Cooks Country (ATK spin-off) over the weekend and they made an AMAZING looking pork pot roast in the slowcooker. I have never used the crockpot before, but think I might borrow my mother’s just for this one. Unfortunately, you have to subscribe to see the recipe online, but you might be able to find the recipe on TV again on PBS or Create.

If I can get the recipe for Beer Roast from my mum, I’ll give it to you. It’s is the god of Slow Cooker Recipes.
I’ve cooked lots of things in my crockpot for years. The easiest is to put in a pot roast and cover it with sliced onions, potatoes, carrots and celery, add any spices that you want and cook on low for 4-5 hours. One of my recent favorites is to cook chicken wings covered in whatever spices that you want until they are just about fall-off-the-bone done then broil them a couple of minutes per side to crisp them up. If you want any specific recipes let me know.
Dave, send some in!!!
Is Michelle still alive? I hear her in the intro, but she hasn’t actually participated in the last 10 podcasts or so.
Also, stupid newbie question: where do I go to listen to the “leftovers” podcast where the voicemails are supposed to be? I just recently got into the FNH podcast, and the voicemails are one of my favorite parts.
Jill, I just saw a commercial for Hidden Valley Ranch with Melissa D’Arabian and it is true that they’re milking the “mom” aspect big time. Her lower third credit said “Food Network Host/Mom of four” like she’s supposed to be more “credible” to make kids meals because she’s a mom LOL
p.s. Although, I wouldn’t mind helping her make a 5th one LMAO!!
it makes me sad that this was the last pod cast….i thought we were promised to have more of them? and whatever happened to the voice mail section? probably the funniest things on the podcasts…….sigh
Please do more podcasts! It is so much fun to listen to you.
I really want to hear the next podcast guys!! Where is it?!?
PLEASE! I need another podcast….I am going insane in my office listening to the 2 guys here burping, farting, and not to mention the constant scratching their junk every 5 minutes. (Them, not me. :) )
So can you help a girl out?
I miss the podcasts so much! You guys make work so much easier to take. Will you be doing more soon? Please say the answer is yes… :(
Please make podcasts again! :[
Please?
No?
No more podcasts? *sniff*
Hey, it’s 2012! How about a new years resolution to start doing podcasts again!
My BF and I have fallen in love with the podcast. We are heartbroken that there are only 20. Please, if you can, come back!!
