Posted on June 8th 2011 by Jillian Madison

Alton Brown just wrapped a drawing contest on Twitter, in which he asked his fans to draw him in exchange for an autographed photo they could sell on eBay (ah yes, a man wise to the way the world really works).

And now, for your viewing pleasure, the absolutely LOVELY entries to the contest. Prepare to gasp in amazement at how effortlessly Alton fans were able to so fluidly translated his likeness into other mediums!

Hahaha, the winning drawing is awesome!

  2. Lana says:

Those are really funny! Thanks for pulling ‘em all together.

  3. FuryOfFirestorm says:

    Suggested caption for #7:

    “WHY SO SERIOUS?”

  4. Eurodancemix says:

The “archbishop” one reminds me more of the Unibomber.

  5. I think the Unibomber would have made a great Food Network Star…

  6. Ida Slapter says:

Most of these look like police composite sketches, which is very fitting because Alton has the face of an unforgiving rapist. I think the first picture, Alton in, what appears to be black-face, is the creepiest.

  7. Crimdellacrim says:

Scary any way you look at him. The ones that resemble him most closely are the skeeviest. Not roasting that chicken tonight, kids!

  8. Sue Z says:

I kind of like Muppet Alton.

  9. Pat says:

I don’t like the winner at all. Yes, I got the art reference. sorry guys.

  10. Ray says:

If you can’t actually draw Alton’s face……. stick a fish in front of it?

  11. Old71 says:

One of the pics looks like an old composite of the Zodiac killer.

  12. Ferd Berfle says:

Not sure why anyone would want to purchase an autographed photo of Alton Brown on eBay.

    • Ray says:

We had someone here once on FNH who I am sure would jump at the chance. Not that I understand it, mind you.

  13. Diane says:

    I’m kinda lovin’ the Etch-a-Sketch one. :)

    • Caps Nut says:

Ditto. Though I really can’t complain about the winner. But Etch-a-Sketch is a strong runner-up.

  14. Stoofy T says:

My first thought about third from last – “but he isn’t Canadian!” … ugh.

    • NepEnut says:

I had that exact same thought – “since when was Alton Brown Canadian?” LOL

Now I have “Blame Canada” stuck in my head. Damn you, South Park guys…

    • Your Name says:

Oh, I was wondering about that. My first reaction seeing that picture was “oh, I didn’t know he was Canadian.”

  15. Sarah says:

I’m just relieved that this wasn’t a repeat of the “Send me a picture of what’s in you refrigerator” disaster.

  16. Kimbo says:

the winning picture – way too ifeminite and i didn’t know alton brown had cerebral palsy?

  17. Njchicaa says:

The 6th one down looks like Robert Irvine.

  18. orlyo says:

But I love the Hello Alton one so much!

  19. JackEughlayte says:

I’d have thought at least one person would have drawn a penis with glasses, oh well.

    • al dente this says:

Yeah…sight-challenged, creepy serial killer, warted penis face pretty much would sum up the challenge.

  20. Pepper says:

Anyone else see the first drawing and have the “AHHHHH!!! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!” reaction?

  21. Chris says:

Can you really draw separate characters and lines like that on an Etch-A-Sketch?

I recall you were stuck with one line that you could twist and turn direction with, but you could not skip across the page and write an A or B.

    Maybe they’ve improved them.

  22. leahblizz says:

oh SHIT that last one scares me.

Drawn well, but damn, that’s a mischievous look

  23. Deaner says:

“Archbishop Alton” looks like he was drawn by Mike Judge.
