Personality is spelled wrong in that last meme :)
These are just too funny!
I think this should be Scumbag Fogelson, but they’re hilarious either way.
LOL, I love the “The runner up gets a show too” one.
and I do believe #2 was from me. Yay! I knew it sounded familiar LOL
Congrats winners!
I’m not one of them…
sad…
The last one earned my undying devotion to this blog and to the meme.
Not that I didn’t love both before, of course. But to see my biggest complaint about NFNS put so succinctly … win!
You are NOT the weakest link. LOL!
While that bugs me as well, I do have to admit that I can understand what the point is. They never really explain it on NFNS, but they always seem to put it in perspective on the Cake Challenges. Keegan is always saying that things are going to go wrong in challenge and you should never expect to come in and do a perfect job. The whole point of the competition is “Who screws up the least” and how people deal with failure. The same thing happens on “Chopped”. As much as the judges will rip you apart for serving undercooked food, they also hate when contestants give up at the last minute and not put something on the plate because it isn’t finished cooking.
That’s the way I feel these NFNS challenges are all about. They don’t spend enough time with these people to really get a good sense of their personalities, so they give them these ridiculous challenges (that are pretty much set up for failure) in order to see which one of them can handle the pressure better. It’s almost like you can tell a lot about a person by what they don’t do as opposed to what they do do (know what I mean?).
I think these “2 minute, Tell your life story and cook at the same time” demonstrations are meant as a way to tell who can handle the pressure. Just look at the “winners” of some of these camera challenges. None of the winners are really that great. They usually win because they were more calm and collected and focused. I believe that’s why Whitney was let go. While she could cook really well and had a “natural” way about her, that naturalness didn’t exactly come through on camera. I worked in TV for many years and have come to realize that you have to overemphasize aspects when it comes to TV. Natural in real life comes across as very boring on TV. You almost have to have sort of an exaggerated version of your naturalness in order for it to feel natural when on TV.
And I also think a lot of the judges criticism is made up for the show. Being a star requires you to take criticism (even if it’s untrue). Just look at that Facebook note that Jyll wrote. She bitched about how the selection committee constantly said she wasn’t funny, when all she did was crack jokes. Well honey, maybe that’s the reason why you were booted off? Maybe they threw those comments at you to see if you can handle it and when you started to cry and get defensive, they realized you weren’t ready to be a star.
It’s under the most stress, criticism, and ridiculous pressures when the you see a persons true “star” potential. If you can’t handle the stupid challenges on this show, how are you going to handle being on TV??
@Mark H88
I see what you’re saying, but I’m not a fan of that method for TV show contestants or any one else.
Some job interviewers use those tactics on every day people who come in looking for employment (turn up the pressure just to see if and how someone cracks, then judge them on that).
I’d rather have someone clearly tell me upfront what qualities they want from me and let me try to meet them, or have them look at my past accomplishments and base their judgements on that.
Yeah, that’s not cool on job interviews, but TV is a different beast. I worked in TV and it’s cut-throat. The stress is insane.
Of course, I’m sure they also do this because it makes for a good / dramatic TV series (which most of America apparently craves).
See, if I was thinking about it without considering NFNS in particular, I’d guess it was to save time… but they could seriously use the stretch, since they fill in their ridiculous length with bullshit every week.
I agree with everything, except “the runnerup will get their own show too.” Actually, the top 4 seem to get their own shows whether on Food Network or Cooking Channel. And most of their shows are boring as all hell. United Tastes of America and sushi pizza anyone?
those were all great hahahaha
Concoct and cook a dish within one hour that highlights Bullseye-brand beef jerky and General Mills-brand fruit roll-ups. You’ll have 30 seconds to present your dish to camera using your choice of idiotic props and a made-up sob story.
*fogelface*
The winner’s recipe will be featured in Food Network magazine.
LOL Bluehawaii, they already do that on Chopped. But who cares, Food Network just repackages the same shows with different hosts and different graphics/theme songs anyway so why not break the cycle?
Ah … Abe, right you are!
Fogel-vice, Fogel-vice, every Sunday you greet me….
Shut up! Susie F. is the hottest woman on the show!
The only one they got wrong was the gay guys catering company.
/well and add Melissa D’Arabian
All of these are fantastic.
These are image macros. They are not a meme.
